Before the image, after the tremor
A way of attending to what vibrates, persists and reverberates.
This October, Casa de Lava returns to Mas Maurici for four days of encounters around cinema and sound.
The 2026 edition places listening at its centre, bringing together experimental and non-fiction audiovisual practices that approach sound not as an accompaniment to the image, but as a material capable of opening perception, activating memory, summoning the archive and making other forms of life within the landscape perceptible.
From 9 to 12 October, Casa de Lava will become a space for screenings, listening, conversation and encounter.
Voices, music, noise, silence, recordings, acoustic landscapes and frequencies will move through the different proposals of this edition. Practices in which sound becomes document, memory, apparition, structure and immersive force.
We will ask:
What do we listen to?
What remains outside the field of listening?
What worlds become audible when the image loses its centrality?
What forms of presence emerge when the ear guides the experience?
Casa de Lava 2026 proposes thinking of cinema as a field of frequencies: a porous surface crossed by human and non-human voices, sensitive archives, music, noise and resonances between different times.
Over the coming days we will unveil the programme, participating artists and each of this year’s encounters.
