FLAT PRINT
Cinema Is Alive, Etienne Caire
Flat Print + Expanded Projection
The workshop addresses a method for making homemade 16mm prints. A process also known as Flat Print. This method of making prints will allow us to obtain footage ideal for creating a series of loops that we will use as material for creating Expanded Cinema pieces.
What flat print offers is the radical transformation of the original footage, rapid editing, multiple exposures (using film fragments from various sources), crossfades, playing with rhythm, light exposure, and creating sounds.
The second part of the workshop revolves around "creative projection." Participants will delve into ways to play and interact with one or more 16mm projectors to modulate and vary the shape and rhythm of images.
