Utopias of tomorrow in the rural present

Think about a space of freedom. A utopian perimeter, in many moments, because it seems to consume itself, to exhaust itself when one tries to put these ideas into practice. Notes that are born as necessary interventions, changes, encounters and communions in a specific landscape, delimited by a thin invisible line as if it were a garden. Far from the most congested and structured cultural centres, research and integration of both the space and the artistic aspects of the environment must be carried out—an open and imperfect territory, far from many neo-capitalist dynamics but still dependent on economic factors. Work to live but also with a precise incision in its nature and meaning whether to regenerate, reinvent, or activate.

In these moments, we want the collective to embrace group harmony and tribe. From the maximum security of the space to respect the emotional, personal and identity, integrate into these utopias and make them a reality. All of this is a subversive act in these times. Whether it is the first time or, unfortunately, it becomes the last. These experiences must be built from a horizontal perspective and aware of their impact. Change everything from within to give it another meaning and explore it in another context. Utopias that exist to share and to ensure that we are all calm. They become essential in intervening in these landscapes, lands, and living organisms against the invasion of the body and the bodies that populate it. Forget stigmas and problems of contemporary drift to let the gaze flow, get to know oneself and generate other ways of linking with reality and the environment.

Spaces where the personal is not political. However, it is collective because it is not shared; one lives in the other and vice versa. Sharing does not exist in these dynamics because one does not contribute material to these utopias. But you force yourself to be yourself. One moves in a particular space and time to be. Oblivious to its world in a natural cycle where everything follows a course, the community settles in to adapt, follow its dynamics, and establish new micro-landscapes. Explore the memory of the Earth, touch it and caress (past) time.

These utopias are projects designed to open the Earth, recover its memory and past, and return to that origin by reconnecting from another angle. Think of the horizon not as a limit but as a core that expands. A space without limits delimited by the self-awareness of all actions and by artistic intervention. Ethics of non-invasion, of the emancipation of the city as anti-landscape, of the urban as exhausted aesthetics, to flee not to towns or houses, but to end up in "non-places" because time has suppressed its physicality to leaving it in a set of ruins from which nothing can be identified anymore. There is no home; there is no community or collectivity, and there is no possibility of becoming a cultural nucleus without reconstruction in every sense. And that is why they must be considered utopias.

However, the big question is how to maintain these structures. How can we sustain these projects economically? How can we generate job opportunities in rural areas through cultural activity? And how do we make it fair for everyone? If fleeing from cultural epicentres generates an exodus towards the countryside, invasion and ecological and cultural alteration must be avoided. Projects must be planted instead of extirpating. You have to water a little instead of letting it become a desert. Or prevent it from rotting due to excessive water. Generating coherent sustainability with other local projects and institutions is the ideal goal because achieving it means that utopia becomes a project, a structure in perfect conjunction and meaning with the landscape. Getting to this point in the long term will be necessary and viable, or it can be considered an obvious objective.
On the contrary, a utopia becomes a dystopia when it seems to turn against the community, when meaning fades, and the landscape becomes a territory of conflict. Planting and caring for what lives and grows is the basis for having a unique garden or a field in which the possibilities of all factors open towards the unpredictable, that is, towards absolute harmony or, at least if this is not possible, towards a terrain of synergies and exchange of views that will be erected above the bases of the project itself. Utopia will no longer be a utopia because it will have ended and become a constant change and adaptation. As if we were animals or other organisms...
